Cannot see the option to Netfile an AT1 under the EFILE menu

SOLVEDby IntuitUpdated November 01, 2023

If a return is set to an Alberta jurisdiction on the Info page and Net file this AT1 return? under EFILE cannot be selected, check the Aberta filing exemption checklist, form AExempt found in the Form Explorer. If Yes is selected in all questions under exemption criteria, the AT1 file does not need to be filed for that year end.

If filing the AT1 is still desired, override one of the answers for exemption criteria to No and the option to Netfile the AT1 will appear under the EFILE menu.

Any corporations that do not  meet the following criteria will not be eligible to net file the Alberta corporate income tax return:

  • The return is not exempt from filing (check the Aexempt form)
  • The return has a valid Alberta Corporate Account Number
  • The taxation year ends after December 31, 2007, and (In this case, we won't see the Netfile option under EFILE)
  • The return being net filed is not an amended return
