ProFile users encounter a 88 EFILE error when electronically filing a 2014 T1 tax return.
This error displays when an alternate address option is selected, but the return has one of the following conditions:
- Return is discounted
- Pre-bankrupt
- Return is for a deceased taxpayer
- Previous year return
Resolution
Remove the alternate address option and the return will become eligible to be electronically filed.
This is due to the Notice of Assessment and Refund option being selected on the Info page, which triggers form T1132 to activate, a form which cannot be used for previous year returns.
Select the Nothing option under the Use preparer address for: section on the Info page for the return to be accepted.
