How do I create a record of employment for an active employee

Providing documentation on behalf of your employees is an important part of running a small business. QuickBooks Online offers helpful and powerful payroll software that can make running your business even easier, as you have access to forms like ROEs. I'd be happy to explain how to generate an ROE, and what to do if your employee is still an active member of your team.


An ROE can only be issued for terminated/inactive employees. In order to generate one, you'd need to change the employee's status to terminated/inactive first.

If you need to issue an ROE, you'll have to make the employee inactive first. Once you've gained access to the ROE and generated it for your own use, you can go back and reactivate your employee.

 

I'd suggest double-checking with your employee and their financial institution to find out if there's other documents that can be submitting to prove that they are gainfully employed, such as a recent pay stub.
