Hello dekkerfraser,

Great question! I can absolutely help with recording the partial sales tax payment in QuickBooks Online.

It seems like you're in exactly the right place. Once you hit Record payment for your filed return, it should open the Record sales tax payment window. Here, you'll see various fields, including Sales tax due this period and Total sales tax due, except instead of the words "sales tax" it'll be the tax code in question. For example, it could be GST/HST due this period.

There's also a box called Payment amount. In this field, you can enter the amount you're paying right now. For example, if you owe $200, but are only paying $100 right now, enter the $100 amount then save. Here's a screenshot from a test account.

When you go back to the Sales Tax centre, you'll notice the return still says Record payment, which you can click again when you're ready to make your next payment. When you do, where it before said Sales tax due this period, it'll now say Sales tax paid this period.
