How do I make a terminated employee active again?

Terminating employees is often permanent, but there are many situations in which they need to be made active again. The payroll modules offered in QuickBooks Online offer powerful employee management with the ability to seamlessly integrate their pay cheques into your books. Making an employee active just takes a few clicks, and I'm here to guide you through it.

 

Making an employee active in QuickBooks Online Standard Payroll can be done in a few easy steps:

  1. Go to your Employees tab.
  2. Right above your employee list, select the drop-down for Active employees and switch it to All or Inactive employees.
  3. Click on the employee's name, then click the pencil next to Employment.
  4. Update their employment status as needed then click Done

Advanced Payroll Powered by WagePoint makes it just as simple to update an employee's status:

  1. Head to the Employees tab.
  2. Right above your employee list, select the drop-down for Active employees and switch it to All or Inactive employees.
  3. Click Edit for the employee, then update their status in the Employment tab.
  4. Click Save and close.

With these steps, you're all set to make any employee active again.
