I can not move forward form step 3 without puttig in an amount for holiday pay

Hi there pugsley66,

You've made a great choice using QuickBooks Online Payroll to pay your employees and keep track of payroll forms and taxes. Our payroll offering makes the process so much easier! I want to explain why you're having trouble completing the payroll set up process, and getting stuck at the vacation section.

In Canada, all employers are required to pay vacation for their employees. The amount you are required to pay out differs by province, but the standard is 4% or 80 hours. You have two options for tracking and paying out Vacation, and I'll out them for you below.

  1. Pay out every period: This policy is best for part-time, hourly, or commission employees. Your employees will get paid their regular wages plus vacation pay when they work, and when they take time off, they won't get paid.
  2. Accrued: Use this policy for salaried or full-time hourly employees. When your employees work, they'll get paid their regular wages. When they take time off, they will get vacation pay that is drawn from their accrued balance.

By default, QBO Payroll will assign a vacation rate percentage based on the minimum provincial requirements. You can adjust this rate to increase it, but any adjustment below the provincial rate will default back to the provincial rate. If you're in a unique position or you track vacation elsewhere and you do not wish to use a vacation policy, you will need to reach out to our support team for assistance. By collecting some sensitive account information that cannot be shared here, they'll be able to send you an email which you can reply to with your request. The agent will outline what you need to include, and once they receive your response they'll be able to pass it off to our payroll experts to make the changes in the system.  I'll include the ways you can reach out to support at the end of my post.

I'd also like to leave you with a few articles that I know will helpful for you to review:
