Thank you for reaching out, @Constructo.
The term "charge out rate" is generally referred to as the Billable Rate/Hour in QuickBooks Online. The option to add a Billable Rate in the employee's profile is currently unavailable. I recommend submitting feedback to our product developer team to have this in the future updates.
Here's how to submit feedback:
- Head to the Gear icon.
- Click the Feedback option.
- Enter your thoughts, then select Next.
- Follow the on screen steps.
Alternatively, we can manually add a Billable Rate in QuickBooks in the time entry screen. Here's how:
- Head to My apps, then Time entries.
- Go to Add time, then choose either Single Time Activity or Weekly Timesheet.

- Select the Employee from the Name dropdown.
- Select the Customer/Project.
- In the Service dropdown, select the Service item we created.
- Check the Billable box, manually enter the charger-out rate for that employee (e.g., $10/hr).
- Enter the timed worked in the Duration box and add a Notes if needed.

- Click Save and Close.
When you invoice the customer, the Billable time we enter will be in the Suggested transactions to availably add. See the screenshot:
