lost the payroll tax payment

Thanks for reaching out, jmastro2024.

To clarify, was the payroll tax payment filed electronically via QuickBooks Online (QBO) or recorded manually?

We can locate and open the tax payment in the Payroll Tax Centre page, then adjust the payment date. Here's how to do it:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Go to Taxes and select Payroll Tax.
  3. From the Payroll Tax Center page, click the Payment History button.
  4. Filter the dates to ensure the payment is displayed. You can set a wide range of dates if you’re unsure of the exact time frame.
  5. Locate and select the tax payment to open it, then update the payment date.
  6. Click Update payment to save your changes.

If the option to edit is unavailable, you may need to delete and re-create the payroll tax payment with the correct payment date. Before doing that, make sure to review the requirements to delete it.

See this article for details and instructions: Delete a payroll tax payment.

After adjusting or re-entering the payment, ensure the transaction matches your bank statement to avoid reconciliation discrepancies.

If the payment was submitted electronically via QBO and must be corrected with the tax agency as well, contact CRA to fix the payment records. This ensures compliance with tax regulations.

If you still can't find the tax payment, it's best to contact our Payroll Support Team for further review. They can help ensure your payroll tax records remain accurate.

Please never hesitate to leave a reply below if you have any further questions or need assistance. We'd be glad to help.
