I have used the wrong account to process payroll. The payroll was processed a month ago. We never use that account and now the account looks overdrawn in quickbooks.

I was supposed to select the company's chequing account, however I selected Payroll Clearing Account which is never used.  How can I correct this for the payroll that was already processed a month ago?

Hi there gabi@marbleclini,

It's vital that all your transactions are entered correctly for your books to be well balanced. QuickBooks OnlinePayroll is a great tool able to help you calculate employees' pay so that they get the right amount of money for their hours worked. I can point you in the right direction to get this corrected.

In order to modify the pay's effect on your books, you'd need to reach out to the QuickBooks Online support team outside of the Community. They'll be able to verify your account with you in a secure setting in order to help you get that payroll edited to affect the right accounts. You can reach out to them using the methods outlined here:

Schedule a Callback or start a Chat: click (?)Help in the upper right > type and enter "Contact support" into the QB Assistant > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat.
Social Media: Facebook and Twitter
