Sign in to QuickBooks Online with Google

Learn how to use Google SSO to sign in to QuickBooks Online.

Google Single Sign-On (SSO) allows you to sign in to your QuickBooks Online account using your Google credentials. With Google SSO, you only need to log in once and you can easily go between G Suite and QuickBooks Online.

Here's how Google SSO works with QuickBooks Online.

Google sign-in is going away for the QuickBooks Online mobile app for iOS

We're updating the way you sign in to the QuickBooks Online mobile app. In the past, users could use their Google accounts to sign in on Android and iOS devices.

Starting on March 30, 2020, you won't be able to sign in to the QuickBooks Online mobile app with Google account on your iPhone or iPad. Note: This change only affects the iOS mobile app. You can still use your Google account to sign in to QuickBooks Online in a web browser or the QuickBooks mobile app.

Instead, use your Intuit Account user ID and password to sign in. We recommend you sign in to your Intuit Account and reset your password before March 30 so you can use it when you sign in next time.

If you don't remember your Intuit Account user ID or password, don't worry. Open a web browser and sign in to QuickBooks Online. You can still use your Google account to sign in. Then follow the steps to get your Intuit user ID and password.

We’re committed to keeping you and your data safe. We're always looking for new ways to do that. We understand not being able to sign in with your Google credentials may be inconvenient and we hope you understand.

Google SSO and QuickBooks

Google Single Sign-On enables users to access all their enterprise cloud applications by signing in one time for all services. To log in to QuickBooks Online using your Google credentials, select the Sign-in with Google button then enter your Google email/phone and password. Note: Google SSO isn't available in Self Employed.

If you're not using your Google SSO, use the username and email you used to sign up for your Intuit product.

In some rare cases, the Sign in with Google button may not display. In this case, use your Intuit username and password. If you don’t remember or don’t have this information, select Sign in

and then the I forgot my user ID or password link. After you reset your info, sign in again and then go back to using the Google button.

G Suite and QuickBooks

G Suite is a set of intelligent apps connecting all the people in your company. It's currently available for QuickBooks Online in selected regions.

Access QuickBooks from G Suite

If you're already signed into G Suite and type in the URL for QuickBooks Online in a new tab/page, it won't recognize the SSO user. You must launch from the app launcher or app card in G Suite.

If you're new to QuickBooks Online, you must use the credentials you used to sign up for your QuickBooks Online account. We recommend using different credentials for your G Suite account.

If you're an existing QuickBooks Online user, the SSO will kick in after launching the app. Select Sign in at the top of the page.

Reset Password for G Suite

You can go through the usual "forgot password" process or you may also contact Support. After resetting your password:

  1. Open QuickBooks Online within G Suite.
  2. A window opens prompting you to enter the new QuickBooks Online credentials.
  3. Complete the MFA verification steps.
  4. After sign-in completes, SSO uses the new credentials.

Disconnect QuickBooks Online from G Suite

  1. Go to your sign in page and use your QuickBooks credentials. (Should be different from what you use to sign into G Suite.)
  2. From the menu, select Security.
  3. In the Linked Identities section, locate the Signed in With Google identity, then select Remove.
  4. Confirm you are removing the permission of Google to access QuickBooks Online.
  5. Select Remove to complete the disconnect process.

Frequently Asked Questions

The feature isn't recommended for mobile users. If you've already created a link to Google, you'll need to de-link the account. (See the Frequently Asked Question section below for steps.)

If you have a password you use to link to Google, use it to sign in to QuickBooks. If desired, de-link your account to permanently remove the Google link from your account.

If you don’t have a password, please create a password. Use this new password for future logins on the mobile app. If desired, de-link your account to permanently remove the Google link from your account.

While Google SSO isn't available for every Intuit product, Intuit credentials are linked across all our products.

For example, If you used Google SSO for your QuickBooks Online account and later want to start a Mint/Turbotax account, which doesn't have SSO feature available, you'll likely receive an error message saying “This account already exists”.

In this case, please create a new password and proceed to sign in to Mint/TurboTax using your new password.

All existing users can sign up to start using SSO as long as they have an existing Gmail account. All you have to do is select Sign in with Google and follow the prompted actions. You must use your Gmail password to create the link.

Absolutely not. Google sign on only allows you to sign in and sign up. No other permission is requested or allowed from Google.
