Fix a QuickBooks Time export error due to a new QuickBooks Desktop company file

Learn how to fix a QuickBooks Time export error that’s due to a new QuickBooks Desktop company file. 

After you export hours from QuickBooks Time to QuickBooks Desktop, you may receive an email from "QuickBooks Time Notification" saying the timesheets were rejected by QuickBooks Desktop. This may happen when you create a new company file for the fiscal year, or by using a copied company file from last year for the current year.

To fix, uninstall and reinstall the integration

  1. In QuickBooks Time, go to Feature Add-ons, then select Manage Add-ons.
  2. Find QuickBooks Desktop Integration, and select Uninstall.
  3. Log in to your QuickBooks as the main admin and in single-user mode.
  4. Follow the steps to integrate QuickBooks Time and QuickBooks Desktop.

Fix custom assignments

Any custom assignments, such as employees being assigned certain customers, or custom fields assigned to certain customers, are lost during the uninstall and reinstall. You’ll need to set them back up:
