by Intuit192 Updated 1 month ago

Switching between Business and Accountant view in QuickBooks Online is a process that helps you access the features and functionalities you need.

Whether you're managing your own business finances or working as an accountant, QuickBooks makes it fast and seamless to switch between views as needed. If you're using QuickBooks Online as a business owner or accountant, you may want to switch between Business and Accountant view to access different features and functionalities.

What are the differences between the views?

The main difference is in appearance: feature, menu, and button names are different in each view, but the actions are identical in most cases. Changing views doesn't affect your accounts or data.

Note: The Cash Flow chart is only available in Business view.

Selecting the view

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online account using your username and password.
  2. Select the ⚙ icon located in the upper-right corner of the screen.

In the drop-down menu are two options: Switch to Accountant view and Switch to Business view.

3. Select the view you want to switch to.

We recommend Business view if you're brand-new to accounting. It simplifies your workspace to make day-to-day tasks like sales and billing easier.

If you have accounting experience or want complete control over features, use Accountant view. It uses standard accounting language. Accountant view is what you may be used to seeing if you've used QuickBooks Online for a while.

After you've selected the view you want to switch to, you'll be asked to confirm the switch.

4. Select the Switch button to confirm the view selection.

It may take a few moments for the change to take effect. Once it does, you'll be directed to the new view you selected.

Reverting to the previous view

  1. Select the ⚙ icon located in the upper-right corner of the screen.
  2. Select the other view option from the drop-down menu.
  3. Select the Switch button to confirm the change.
