If you're using QuickBooks Online as a business owner or accountant, you may want to switch between Business and Accountant view to access different features and functionalities. In this article, we'll provide step-by-step instructions on how to switch between Business and Accountant view in QuickBooks Online.

In this article, you'll learn how to:

Step 1: Log in to QuickBooks Online

To get started, log in to your QuickBooks Online account using your username and password.

Step 2: Navigate to the Gear icon

Once you're logged in, select the ⚙ icon located in the upper-right corner of the screen.

Step 3: Select Accountant view or Business view

In the drop-down menu, you'll see 2 options: Switch to Accountant view and Switch to Business view. Select the view you want to switch to.

We recommend Business view if you're brand-new to accounting. It simplifies your workspace to make day-to-day tasks like sales and billing easier.

If you have accounting experience or want complete control over features, use Accountant view. It uses standard accounting language. Accountant view is what you may be used to seeing if you've used QuickBooks Online for a while.

The main difference is the appearance. Feature, menu, and button names are different in each view, but the actions are identical in most cases. Changing views doesn't affect your accounts or data.

Note: The Cash Flow chart is only available in Business view.

Step 4: Confirm the switch

After you've selected the view you want to switch to, you'll be asked to confirm the switch. Select the Switch button to confirm.

It may take a few seconds for the switch to take effect. Once it does, you'll be directed to the new view you selected.

Step 5: Navigate to the Gear icon again to switch back

To switch back to the other view, simply navigate back to the ⚙ icon and select the other option from the drop-down menu. Confirm the switch and wait for it to take effect.
