Auto-fill My Return (AFR) in Pro Tax
by Intuit• Updated 3 weeks ago
Note: The Auto-fill My Return (AFR) feature is supported in T1 and T2 returns in Pro Tax. If you’re looking to use AFR in T3 modules, you will need to use ProFile for that.
Auto-fill My Return (AFR) let’s you to import relevant tax data directly from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) into your client's T1 income tax and benefit return.
Here's how to perform an AFR in Pro Tax:
- Client Authorization: Before you can use AFR, your client must authorize you as their representative. This authorization is crucial for Pro Tax to access the necessary data from the CRA.
To use ENOA in Pro Tax for CRA data access, you need to be a certified electronic filer, registered with Represent a Client, and have a RepID, GroupID, or business number with Level 1 (or higher) authorization.
- Open the tax file for your client in Pro Tax.
- Access AFR:
- Select the "Return actions" menu.
- Next, choose "CRA Auto fill my return."
- Visit the CRA website and select the "Visit CRA website" option.
- Sign in to the CRA's website using your established credentials.
- Make sure the client’s Social Insurance number (SIN) is correct.
- Continue with Import and select "Next".
- Once Pro Tax connects to the CRA, you can close the browser window. Next, review the preview page to choose the data you want to import.
- Import the data by selecting "Import selected" to bring the selected data into the return.
- Select "Continue" to finalize the import.
- To review if the imported data is accurate, open the "Data Import Summary" page within Pro Tax.
