Assign a currency to a new customer or supplier in the QuickBooks Online mobile app

Learn how to assign a currency to a new customer or supplier in the QuickBooks Online mobile app.

If you have a customer/s or a supplier/s overseas, you can assign them the currency they prefer to pay you with. This helps you keep track of your income without the worries about exchange rates and conversions.

Note: If you haven’t yet, turn on multicurrency in QuickBooks Online before you proceed.

Assign a currency to a new customer

If you need to change an existing customer’s currency, you’ll need to create a new customer and assign the new type of currency.

  1. Go to Menu ☰ and tap Customers.
  2. Tap + to add a new customer.
  3. Enter your customer's info.
  4. From the Customer pays me with section, tap > (iOS) or CAD Canadian Dollar (Android). Then, tap the currency they use to pay you with.
    Tip: You can also search by your customer's country in the Search for a Currency search icon2_qbo_us_ext_1523.png (iOS) or Search search icon2_qbo_us_ext_1523.png (Android) field.
  5. Tap Save.

Assign a currency to a new supplier

If you need to change an existing supplier’s currency, you’ll need to create a new supplier and assign the new type of currency. Follow these steps depending on the mobile device you use:

For iOS

  1. Go to Menu ☰ and tap ALL.
  2. From the Expenses section, tap Suppliers.
  3. Tap + to add a new supplier.
  4. Enter your supplier’s info.
  5. From the I pay this supplier with section, tap >. Then, tap the currency they use to pay you with.
    Tip: You can also search by your customer's country in the Search for a Currency search icon2_qbo_us_ext_1523.png field.
  6. Tap Save.

For Android

  1. Go to Menu ☰ and tap ALL.
  2. From the Money out section, tap Suppliers.
  3. Tap + to add a new supplier.
  4. Enter your supplier’s info.
  5. From the I pay this supplier with section, tap CAD Canadian Dollar. Then, tap the currency they use to pay you with.
    Tip: You can also search by your customer's country in the Search search icon2_qbo_us_ext_1523.png field.
  6. Tap Save.
