Supported payment methods for QuickBooks Payments

QuickBooks Payments (Merchant Services) lets you process credit card and bank payments through an invoice link or by manually entering payments into QuickBooks Online.
Review the following lists to determine which payment methods are supported and unsupported for Canadian transactions.
Supported payment methods
You can manually enter or process the following Canadian payment methods through an invoice link:
- American Express
- Apple Pay (Functions as a housing application for supported credit card types)
- Bank payments
- Discover
- Mastercard
- Visa
Supported recurring payment methods
With customer authorization, Â you can set up recurring payments using the following payment methods:
- American Express
- Bank payments
- Discover
- Mastercard
- Visa
Unsupported payment methods
QuickBooks Payments does not support the following payment methods:
- Foreign currencies: Payments from currencies other than Canadian currency.
- Debit card payments: Visa and Mastercard debit cards don't always have an address linked to the card profile. This means the system can't check the credit details and the process doesn't finish.
- American-sourced credit cards These can't be used, even if they contain Canadian details.
- Standalone JCB cards: While American Express partners with JCB to allow Amex cards to be accepted in Canada, standalone JCB card transactions aren't supported.
