Supported payment methods for QuickBooks Payments
by Intuit•33• Updated 1 month ago
The Payments (Merchant Services) feature in QuickBooks Online allows business owners to process credit card and bank payments through an invoice link, as well as manually enter payments in the product.
The following lists detail what methods are supported and unsupported when using the Payments feature in QuickBooks.
Supported payment methods
Credit card payments made through the following Canadian payment methods can be entered manually in the product or made through the invoice link:
- American Express
- Apple Pay*
- Bank payments
- Discover
- Mastercard
- Visa
* Apple Pay is not a separate payment method, but rather a housing application for the above credit card types. |
Supported recurring payment methods
With customer authorization, recurring payments can be set up using the following payment methods:
- American Express
- Bank payments
- Discover
- Mastercard
- Visa
Unsupported payment methods
The following payment methods are unsupported for QuickBooks Payments:
- Payments from currencies other than Canadian currency.
- Debit card payments. Visa and Mastercard debit cards don't always have an address linked to the card profile. This means the system can't check the credit details and the process doesn't finish.
- American-sourced credit cards, even with Canadian details.
- JCB cards can't be used as a standalone payment method. Although Amex partners with JCB to let Amex cards be accepted in Canada, JCB cards can't be used for standalone transactions.
