Setting up Tax Settings in Pro Tax
by Intuit• Updated 1 month ago
To set up your preparer, printing, EFILE, and other options for QuickBooks Online Accountant Pro Tax, go to Pro Tax, then Tax Settings.
Add the required settings, or set up other categories later. Below is a breakdown of what you can do on the different tabs.
What you can do in each tab
EFILE
Note: To make sure you enter the EFILE password correctly and avoid mistakes, a new CRA rule requires customers to enter their password twice.
The Tax Settings window opens on the EFILE tab. This is where you enter your CRA EFILE number and password. Remember to select Save in all Tax Settings tabs to save changes.Â
Preparer Info
Enter your preparer, third-party and discounter information on this page. The info appears on all your tax returns and on tax agency transmissions such as Represent a Client.
T3/FX Transmission
Enter your CRA T3 and FX credentials here.Â
From the Print tab you can set up print sets for all your T1, T2, T3, and FX returns. You can also create unique sets for your office, clients, and the CRA, and filter print sets by tax year.Â
Letters
If you need to send a letter to your client, go to the Letters tab and you’ll have access to templates for those and more.Â
From the Letters tab you can view and/or customize existing letters, or you can create your own letters from scratch. To personalize a specific letter, select the Edit menu.Â
You can access the Letters feature from both Pro Tax and from Accountant tools in QuickBooks Online Accountant.
Pro Tax Labs
This is the tab to visit if you’d like to test early-stage features. New features are being added here frequently but might not work at full functionality
