How to use the Auditor in Pro Tax

by Intuit• Updated 1 month ago

The Auditor tab is next to the Forms tab. It is used to look at issues and warnings that need to be fixed before EFILING. You can review items you've signed off on, and override them.

Select an error message in the Auditor to jump to the form prompting the warning or EFILE error. Select the checkmark icon in the error box if you wish to sign off. The icon will change from grey to green in colour.

Sometimes the auditor will prompt you to complete forms that have yet to be added to your forms list. Add the form from the Forms tab.

Issues and warnings

The Issues tab inside the Auditor identifies fields that are incomplete or inaccurate. You must address these to EFILE. You can sign off, but often returns with empty fields will not be accepted by EFILE. A return missing a Social Insurance Number will be rejected by EFILE, as an example.

The Warnings tab contains items that the Pro Tax tax engine has found that may need attention. Sign off if you think your entries are correct. You must sign off or address warnings before EFILING.
