ProFile returns create duplicates when opened


When opening a return in ProFile, several duplicate copies are automatically created and opened.

The common cause of this issue is the opening of a return in a second window using the right-click New Window feature and then saving without closing the additional window.

This issue can occur across any module and for any tax year.


  1.  Close the duplicate copies of the return; keep one copy open.

  2.  Save the return using the "Save" option under the "File" drop-down menu in the top toolbar.

  3.  Close the saved return.

  4.  Reopen the return in ProFile. Only one copy of the return opens.
