ProFile users encounter a version error message when opening a file

Issue

The following error displays when opening a return:

The error reads: "[FILE NAME] was saved with a more recent version of ProFile than the one you are currently running. Please upgrade your version of ProFile to the current version."

Resolution

Undertake the following solutions. After each solution, reopen the file to see if it opens without the error message.

If the error persists, try the next solution and reopen the file again under the error is resolved:

  1. Update ProFile manually (link to article).
  2. Run proreg to repair modules (link to article).
  3. Perform a clean uninstall of ProFile (link to article).
