Issue
If the "short date" format used by a preparer when generating the XML file for a T3 return does not follow the Windows default setting, the XML file fails to generate.
What to Know
The default Windows for the "short date" setting follows a specific format, depending on which Windows operation system is installed.
If the preparer uses a different short date format than the default, the XML file for the T3 return fails to generate.
The issue does not occur when generating other XML files (e.g. for T3 slips or FX files).
Workaround
Preparers should set the short date format to the Windows default ; the format depends on the operating system being used.
For Windows 7 operating system
1. Open the Windows "Control Panel".
2. Enter the search term "region" in the search bar in the top-right corner; the search results display.
3. Select the "Region and Language" option from the search results.
4. Set the short date value in the "Short date:" field to "m/d/yyyy":

5. Click the "OK" button; the short date format is set.
This workaround allows the XML file for the T3 return to generate.
For Windows 10 operation system
1. Click the "Windows" icon in the bottom-left corner of the screen.
2. Enter the term "change the date and time format" in the search bar; results display at the top of the menu.
3. Select the "Change the date and time format" search result; the "Change the date and time format" window displays:

4. Set the short date value in the "Short date" field to "M/dd/yy"
This workaround allows the XML file for the T3 return to generate.
Resolution
This issue will be resolved in a future release of ProFile.
