"Unhandled exception" error encountered when entering the license in ProFile

SOLVEDby IntuitUpdated January 08, 2024

You may encounter an "Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application" error when inputting a license.

If this error occurs, it could be the result of an older license record already entered in the system.

  1. Close ProFile.
  2. Select the Windows start icon in the bottom-left corner of your PC screen.
  3. Begin typing "control panel" on your keyboard; the Control Panel app option displays.
  4. Select Control Panel; the Control Panel opens.
  5. Select Appearance and Personalization, then File Explorer Options.
  6. Select the View tab.
  7. Under Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives, then OK.
  8. Open Windows Explorer.
  9. Navigate to the following directory: C:\ProgramData.
  10. Open the ProgramData folder.
  11. Locate and right-click on the Greenpoint folder. Select the Rename option and rename the existing folder to Greenpoint.old.
  12. Re-open ProFile and add the license.
