"Feature transfer error" when installing or repairing ProFile

A Feature transfer error displays when a user installs or repairs ProFile. The error can include the following terms: DefaultFeature, Core Files, and The system cannot find the file specified.

Resolution

The Windows Defender file protection feature is preventing installation or repair on the computer.

Navigate to the Microsoft support site and scroll down to the section Turn Windows Defender Antivirus real-time protection on or off.

The steps in that section instruct ProFile users how to disable the Windows Defender feature.

Users can reactivate the feature after the installation or repair is complete.
