Use HyperDocs in ProFile

SOLVEDby IntuitUpdated 1 year ago

Preparers can attach multiple documents in any format to a return using the HyperDocs function.

Note: According to submission guidelines, preparers can only include one attachment in PDF, JPG, or GIF format.

  1. Select HyperDocs under the File drop-down menu in the top toolbar.
  2. Right-click on the document and select Mark Document for CO-17 internet filing.

The marked document displays in purple. It will be included in the electronic ClicRevenu submission.

The following guidelines can assist with CO-17 filing:

  • If multiple supporting documents are to be sent to Revenu Québec, save them in a single file.
  • If marking a document as something other than a PDF, JPG, or GIF for electronic transmission, the Mark Document for CO-17 internet Filing option deactivates.
  • It is necessary to select QC as the Provincial or territorial jurisdiction to activate the Mark Document for CO-17 internet Filing option.

The HyperDocs feature allows the attachment of multiple documents in any format to a form or field in the client return. To add a new document:

  1. Select HyperDocs under the File drop-down menu in the top toolbar.
  2. Click Add to browse to the document to add.

To attach a HyperDoc to a specific field on a client form:

  1. Right-click on the field and select Attach HyperDoc.
  2. Choose whether to embed or link the document:
  • Embedded documents open as read-only and cannot be edited in ProFile.
  • Linked documents open from the source and can be edited directly in ProFile. Changes are saved to the source document on the computer.

Double-click on the document from the HyperDocs window.

If the document is linked, ProFile opens it from its source and saves any changes made directly to the source file stored on the computer. If the document is embedded, ProFile opens a read-only version.

HyperDoc documents can remain open while working in ProFile.

To detach a document from a specific field, right-click the field and select Detach HyperDoc.

The document is still attached to the form, but is no longer linked to a specific field.

Note: ProFile creates an entry in the Properties window to track of the client history whenever a document attached or removed from a client.

Right-click on the document in the HyperDocs window and select Remove.

If you delete a form that had documents attached to it, the HyperDoc document will also delete. Deleting a HyperDoc document only removes the link or embedded document from ProFile. It does not affect the source file stored on the computer.

Note: HyperDocs and associated comments are stored with preparer files, but are not included with T1 EFILE or TP1 NETFILE transmissions.

If you delete a form that had documents attached to it, the HyperDoc document will also delete. Deleting a HyperDoc document only removes the link or embedded document from ProFile. It does not affect the source file stored on the computer.

Note: The right-click menu in the HyperDocs window includes additional options to help manage documents.

If altering a source document outside of ProFile after attaching it to a return, it is necessary to synchronize the document to apply changes.

Select an attachment and enter comments or additional information under Comments (for your reference).

Note: Comments and additional information do not submit to the CRA or Revenu Quebec with electronic returns.
