Reset your QuickBooks Time password

If you are unable to log in to QuickBooks Time, follow these steps to recover your credentials. Once your password is reset, you will be able to sign in again as normal.

Note: As part of Intuit, QuickBooks Time is upgrading to the same security standards that protect TurboTax, Mint, and QuickBooks. All users will soon have an account for everything Intuit, and your QuickBooks Time account will go through an account security upgrade. 

This article has steps for getting help before and after the upgrade, just follow the steps depending on what you see in your account. If you've completed the upgrade, you can find additional help for signing into your Intuit account.

On a computer

  1. Go to quickbooks.intuit.com/time-tracking and select Sign in.
  2. Select QuickBooks Time.
  3. Enter your Email or User ID.
  4. If prompted, choose Sign in with QuickBooks Time or Sign in with Intuit.
    • If you selected Sign in with QuickBooks Time:
      1. Select I forgot my user ID or password.
      2. Enter your email address or mobile number, and select Recover my info.
      3. Open the email or text from QuickBooks Time Support and select Reset your password.
    • If you selected Sign in with Intuit:
      1. Select Try something else.
      2. Enter the phone number, email address, or user ID, then select Continue.
      3. Check your phone or email for a message from Intuit or QuickBooks Time. Enter the code we sent, or follow the instructions in the message.
      4. Select Reset password.

On a mobile device

  1. Enter your Email or User ID.
  2. If prompted, choose Sign in with QuickBooks Time or Sign in with Intuit.
    1. If you selected Sign in with QuickBooks Time:
      1. Tap Forgot Password?
      2. Enter your email address or mobile number, and tap Recover my info.
      3. Open the email or text from QuickBooks Time Support and tap Reset your password.
    2. If you selected Sign in with Intuit:
      1. Tap I forgot my user ID or password.
      2. Enter the phone number, email address, or user ID, then tap Continue.
      3. Check your phone or email for a message from Intuit or QuickBooks Time.
      4. Enter the code we sent, or follow the instructions in the message.
      5. Tap Reset password.

Update your password when signed in

If you are already signed in but wish to change your credentials, follow these steps.

On a computer

  1. In QuickBooks Time, open your profile dropdown, then select Profile.
  2. Do one of the following:
    1. If “Change Password” displays:
      1. Enter your current password first, then a new password in the next two fields.
      2. Select Save.
    2. If you are taken to a new page:
      1. Go to Password and select Edit.
      2. Create a new password and type in your current password, then select Save.

On a mobile device

  1. In the app, go to your Profile.
  2. Next to Password, tap CHANGE.
  3. Do one of the following, depending on what displays on the new screen:
    1. If you see "Hi, [your name]!":
      1. Enter your current password and tap NEXT.
      2. Then, create a new password and confirm it.
      3. Tap CHANGE PASSWORD.
    2. If you see "Sign In Help":
      1. Confirm your phone number, email, or user ID.
      2. Tap Continue. You will either receive an email or text code to reset your password.
