ProFile users encounter a "ProFile was unable to activate its database component" error message

Issue

ProFile users encounter the following error message:

The full message reads: ProFile was unable to activate its database component. This may be solved by running ProFile with the /register command.

Resolution

Follow the support article on running “proreg” to repair the ProFile module. This process clears the error message.
