Hi everyone, I've been using the self-employed web app and now just downloaded the mobile app on my phone. For some reason, nothing is synced. Is there any way to link the 2 apps? Thanks.

Hello Inspection Tremblay,

It's awesome to hear that you've been using QuickBooks Self-Employed, and the mobile app option is a great way to work with your data even when you're not at a computer. Based on what you've described, I have an idea of what may have happened and can guide you through resolving this.

Whether you access QuickBooks Self-Employed with a browser or the mobile app, the data should sync between the two systems since they're simply two different access portals for your information. There are two important steps to take here to make sure that happens. The first is to make sure that you've downloaded the QuickBooks Self-Employed app. In the app store, there's also a QuickBooks Accounting app, but that's for QuickBooks Online accounts. I recommend starting by double checking the app you've downloaded to verify that it's the correct one for QuickBooks Self-Employed.

The second important step is to use the same login details that you use in a browser. When you open the QuickBooks Self-Employed app, the button you're looking for is the one to Sign In rather than create an account. If you selected to create an account, it means you created a brand new account, which is why the information isn't syncing. To log out of that account and log into your original account, select the icon that takes you to the settings, then Settings. On that page, there should be a Sign out button. It may be at the bottom if you don't see it right away. Once you've signed out, you can sign back in with your original login information.

If you accidentally downloaded the QuickBooks Accounting app, you may have accidentally created a QuickBooks Online trial or subscription. Whether you've accidentally created this kind of subscription or a secondary QuickBooks Self-Employed one, I recommend navigating to your app store to cancel them if you have no need for them. Since these would have been created via the app, the app store would take care of the billing. Here are some articles that can help. Review the mobile app store sections of these articles to learn how to cancel any duplicate subscriptions.

If you'd like some additional guidance with this to verify you're situation and that you're taking the right steps, please don't hesitate to reach out to the QuickBooks Self-Employed team outside of this community forum. Here's how you can reach that team.

  1. Select the Assistant feature.
  2. Type and enter "talk to human" in the chat box.
  3. Follow the prompts.

I hope this has been helpful! Have a great rest of your day. :)
