Re: Entering HST rebate amounts

Hey Antbird,

Welcome to the QuickBooks Desktop community! I'm glad to have you join us.

It's awesome to hear that you got a rebate for your sales tax. The good news on the QuickBooks Desktop side of things is recording that rebate only takes a few simple steps.

  1. Select Receive Payment from the Customers section of the Home window.
  2. From the customer drop-down, choose the appropriate Agency (e.g. Ministry of Finance).
  3. Enter the appropriate details.
  4. Click Save & Close when done.

If you'd like a hand with these steps or have more questions, give support a call at 1-877-772-9158. Pro and Premier agents are available 24/7 while Enterprise and ProAdvisor agents are available Monday to Friday, between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET. Re: Entering HST rebate amounts

I am a farmer, and file HST quarterly, so I'm always getting rebates (lucky me!). When I tried to enter the amount, the message I got was 'there are no outstanding amounts for this cutomer', and 'a credit for overpayment will remain on the customer's credit'?  One of the options is 'click ok to save transaction'? is this what I should do?

Re: Entering HST rebate amounts

Money coming back from the government is always great! In this case, it makes sense that the program wants to create a credit if the tax agency hasn't had transactions recorded for it otherwise. There may be a number of ways that you could record this kind of transaction and I want to make sure you find the best option that works for you, especially since you'll be using it often. For that reason, I encourage you to get in touch with the phone support team to discuss what you're able to do.
