Hello, usok2025. QuickBooks Time does not offer an auto-deduction feature for timesheets. However, it does provide an Auto Break feature, which functions similarly. This feature automatically adds an unpaid break (for example, 30 minutes) to the timesheet once an employee works beyond a certain number of hours. This effectively reduces the total hours worked, similar to a deduction.
To set up, you can follow these steps.
- Navigate to the Feature Add-ons menu.
- Select the Breaks tab.
- Under the Breaks preferences page, click the +Add Break Rule.
- Add a name, short code, and set the length.
- Select if you want the break to be Paid or Unpaid.
- Check the box for Automatic Break.
- Under When, set "Shift has reached" to your preferred hours (e.g., 4 or 6 hours)
- Select the Days of the Week it applies to
- Under Place Break At, choose "Middle of shift" (or preferred placement)
- Click the Save.
