I am confused with transitioning from Tags to a custom field. Is there a video explaining this? An expert showed me how to configure tags but now they will be gone.

I would like to categorize personal v. business and the tags allowed me to breakdown my personal transactions. What would be the best way to do this with a custom field. I have basic subscription.

I acknowledge that adapting to changes takes time, Anna. Allow me to add clarifications about the Tags discontinuation and its transition to the Custom fields feature.

To start, I'd like to let you know that I've checked our secured resource here in the Community and found an article about the migration process of Tags into Custom fields. Although it does not include a video, it outlines what you need to know about the changes that will take effect starting May 16, 2025. Here's the link for more information: Migrate tags to custom fields in QuickBooks Online.

It's also essential to note that QuickBooks Online (QBO) Simple Start (EasyStart) users are limited to saving and using one Custom field per transaction type only. If you have multiple active Tags, they will be fused into one Custom field and are converted as Dropdown list items. Refer to the visual reference below:

After the migration, you can select each converted item from the Custom field dropdown located at the header of the transaction you're generating. Please know that the saved Custom field name will also be the displayed name of its dropdown field when generating a transaction.

Still, it's best to seek assistance from an accounting professional to utilize this feature according to your categorization and financial management needs. They can guide you accordingly when it comes to complex accounting processes.

Finally, you may consider upgrading your QuickBooks subscription to maximize the Custom field feature more effectively. You may also explore the Class function, which can help you distinguish your transactions according to their specific purposes.
