I'm trying to reconnect one of my credit cards and it's asking for a password. What the heck is that all about?

I have my business account connected to my QuickBooks and for some reason it disconnects every several months and then it asks to reconnect and it wants a password? I tried to enter my banking online banking password and that did nothing.

Hi, @taco-papi-bc. Which credit card company are you using? When QuickBooks asks you to reconnect, it’s usually because the secure token has expired. Most major banks require this refresh every few months as a security measure to ensure your data stays private and protected during the sync.

If you’re being asked to reconnect more often than usual, try logging into your bank’s website using a standard browser first. Occasionally, banks have pending notices, updated terms and conditions, or security prompts that you must accept on their end before they’ll allow QuickBooks to access the data again.

If your bank has also recently launched a new login portal or updated its website security, the old link in QBO might become stale. In this case, it’s best to disconnect and then reconnect the account entirely. This forces QuickBooks Online to use the bank's most up-to-date connection path, which can help prevent disruptions.

Just make sure to categorize your pending transaction first. Then, double-check that the password you are using is the most current one for your online banking.

Sometimes, temporary data in your browser can interfere with the login screen, causing it to reject an accurate password. You can re-enter your credentials using an incognito or private window to rule out a cache-related issue.
