Non Inventory Part or Inventory part

We are a jewelry store and use small boxes for the jewelry for the client.  We do not charge for the boxes.  We would like to keep in inventory count for these boxes without a cost applied.  Just wondering if there are any suggestions.

Non Inventory Part or Inventory part

Hi lovers.

Picking the right inventory selection for your jewelry boxes is key to tracking them properly. I'd be happy to help go over which inventory part to use in your QuickBooks Desktop.

QuickBooks Desktop makes it easy to track your inventory dependent on how you use it. The non inventory part or inventory part types are used to track two different kinds of inventory depending on the use of this product. A non inventory parts is used for a type of product that is purchased or sold but whose quantity is not tracked. These types of items are purchased for company use or custom products purchased for Projects.

An inventory part represents an item that your firm keeps on hand for sale to customers. It can be stocked and sold on its own or included as part of an inventory assembly.

So if this is an item that you track how many you have and provide to customers an inventory part seems the most accurate choice.

If you have any questions let us know and we'd be happy to help.
