QBDesktop to QBO. Charity tax rebate calc for non rebatable tax is not posted to the item expense account. It is all accumulated in one new expense account. Fix?

The new expense account created to post all non rebateable tax to is named Minster of Finance expense. What do I need to do to make it post to the item expense account?

Hello there, @finance248. To fix this issue with your expense accounts, you can use a clearing account and create a journal entry. It will take a few steps to create a clearing account.

 

Follow the steps below:

 

  1. From the left menu, hover your mouse over All apps and choose Accounting, then select Chart of Accounts.


     
  2. Hit New account.
  3. In the New account window, select Bank from the Account Type dropdown.
  4. In the Account Name field, enter Clearing Account, Barter Account, or Wash Account.
  5. Do NOT enter an opening balance.
  6. Click Save.

 

To create a journal entry, refer to the bottom part of this article for the detailed steps: Set up a clearing account. I also recommend reaching out to your accountant for further guidance in choosing the correct account to debit and credit. You can find one in this link: Find an accountant.
