QuickBooks Online is a cloud-based software that lets you conveniently manage your business anywhere you have an internet connection. QuickBooks Online is compatible with the most recent versions of Windows and MAC operating systems. As long as you're using a supported browser, you will be able to use the program with macOS Catalina.

It's awesome that you'd like to use the app on the newest Mac operating system. Catalina is not currently listed as an option in the system requirements for the app, meaning it's not available on that OS at this time. I encourage you to submit feedback about this to our product developers through the Gear icon in the upper right of your account. They review the feedback as they decide what changes to make to the product to better help business owners such as yourself. In the meantime, using QuickBooks Online through the browser will get you back in business.

These kind of updates are done solely by our engineering team. An ETA isn't released at this time for when our system requirements will include Mac OS Catalina. As mentioned by my colleague above, the best thing to do is to submit feedback directly to the engineering team through the Gear icon > Feedback. I know how important it is to have access to QuickBooks on this new operating system, and I'm confident we'll be able to release an update to allow for this in the near future.
It seems the QBO Mac desktop app is NOT compatible with Catalina. It freezes 4 out of 5 times when trying to open up QBO. Will there be an updated to resolve or will Users have to use QBO strictly through a browser going forward?
There's no excuse as to why QBO is not ready for macOS Catalina. Developers have access to the operating system well before its release date to give developers time make necessary updates and changes to software.
Yet another example as to how Intuit doesn't care about customer experience and cares more about taking every last penny out of them.
QB customer phone support said to "Reset App Data" from the Help pull down menu and it should resolve the issue with MAC desktop QBO... It helped at first, however, I continue to have issue with the QBO App giving me the "Shoes Untied" message and find myself having to quit/restart the app and Reset the data again and again. I hope the QB engineering team gets resolves the issues with the Catalina OS and plans ahead and gets in front of future OS updates.
Its a bit frustrating when the subscription price has nearly doubled in past few years yet the performance has not.
I apologize in advance for using this forum as a therapy session...
1. How is the QB desktop app not compatible with various Mac OS's...?

3. Does anyone else, after seeing the "shoes untied" error message, for the 100th time now find It offensive and degrading?
4. Quickbooks doesn't need sneakers. Clearly they were slippers and drink duff beer.
QBO - Can you please...just...provide a reasonable response to an issue that was not an issue just a couple months back? Please do away with the pleasantries and simply address our simple questions. We use quickbooks because many of use need "quick" and easy to use software. Your support staff mocks us with redundant non-solutions. Do your jobs just like the customers who depend on you do to do theirs...And do it QUICKLY.

QBO customer frustration is stemming from the fact that you are cutting and pasting "canned" responses to the question!!!
- Your recent message asked what OS is being used but the subject line of the discussion states the OS... Apple MAC Catalina. Another canned response defended QBO price increases but did not explain why QBO software is not being updated to stay current with Hardware Operating Systems.
- I've attached a screenshot which I get on every tab/screen unless I refresh the app several times. This error (in addition to the "untied shoes" message) has been happening with QBO ever since upgrading to the OS Catalina.
- Please advise when a QBO update will be released addressing the bugs/errors for the Mac Desktop App running OS Catalina. (Which was released over 2 months ago.)
The only options are to Reset App Data which, as we now know is a temporary fix or to keep refreshing the page until you're able to see your account data.
The technical support person I spoke with was pleasant but was unable to find a solution that works. Additionally, after 30 minutes on the phone, he was unable to create a ticket and it was something I needed to do after the call which is completely stupid.

When is QBO going to be compatible, it has been months now! Also, I agree, prices have skyrocketed, especially this last hike a couple months ago - it is out of control and unacceptable, especially for an app that is not working - it is so slow to use I feel like throwing it against the wall.

It's vital the program is working correctly and I'd like to provide the support you need with this. When was the last time you cleared cache and cookies on your browser? It works better when I log in online (but i have not used it that way much, although I may have to start). It is the app that is terrible - it used to be great, as I have 3 companies I use it for and I could have all 3 companies open at once, use them all. Now even one company loads as slow as molasses and as noted by others, I get the untied shoe and also the other error message and I have to refresh or close it to get it working, but "working" is a very loose term.
Ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. I've tried refreshing and resetting the cache repeatedly. The same slow response and "untied shoe" message occurs every day, all day whenever you try to open a QBO company file via the desktop. If you refresh 2-3 times the app will load eventually.
I run five different companies on QBO and everything was good/normal until the Mac OS Catalina update back in October/November. After 4 months I'm now simply accustomed to refreshing constantly whenever I open/work on a new company... its functioning but quite frustrating that the QBO software has not been fixed/patched to eliminate these errors and work-flow issues. Especially considering the recent increased subscription costs.
I tried contacting support directly as suggested in earlier forum responses, but was placed on hold and after 45 minutes, I dropped the call.
