Having the option to delete Journal Entries through the Trial Balance Report makes your life easier by saving you time and effort in tracking down unnecessary transactions. QuickBooks allows you to delete Journal Entries directly from the report by opening up their associated account register, and expanding the transaction. I'll help you get to the bottom of why you may see this error message appearing.
I've been unable to duplicate this issue in my own account, and therefore I've done some further digging. One possibility may be that you've used a transaction importer, such as Transaction Pro Importer. We've seen this error message appear before for those who have imported Journal Entries using a third-party program, as they can group multiple lines onto the same Journal Entry that have the same value mapped to the reference number.
I'd recommend ensuring that each line of your Journal Entry has the same reference number.
If you haven't used a transaction importer, or if you're still having issues deleting your transaction, the best approach would be to reach out to our phone support team. You can contact them at 855-253-1536 from 9am - 8pm EST, Monday to Friday, and 9am - 6:30pm on Saturdays. With a bit more information our team will get you back on track in no time.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Have a great day.
