Hi there, Sandra.
When transactions don't automatically pair, it's usually because there's a possible mismatch between the downloaded bank details (date, amount, or description) and the corresponding record, or one side of the transaction hasn't been fully processed yet.
Since you mentioned the monies are already recorded as transfers when categorized, the immediate issue is matching the two downloaded bank feed lines to that single, correct transfer record in QuickBooks.
Here are the steps to get those existing transfers matched and how to prevent the issue moving forward:
- Go to the Accounting menu on the left panel, and then select Bank transactions.
- Ensure to choose the account where the transfer transaction still appears in the tab (for example, your Chequing Account).
- Now, locate the specific transfer transaction that is not showing an automatic match.
- Open the transaction details to expand the view.
- Then look for Find match. It is a search window. It displays a list of transactions.
- Locate and select the corresponding transaction. It will be an entry with the exact amount and a similar date.
- Check the box next to the correct corresponding transaction.
- Then, click the Match button.
This action matches the bank feed entries to the existing transfer record. It ensures accurate Chequing and Savings registers and clears the transactions from the For Review tab, preventing duplicates.
To pair future transfers, process the outgoing transaction in the originating bank feed first. QuickBooks Online will then automatically create a "Paired" match for the incoming transaction in the second account's feed.
If you have any other unusual scenarios, please let me know. We'll work through it together!
