Why trial balance debit and credit balances don't agree?

Hi there Coco27,

I see that you've tagged QuickBooks Online Accountant as the product you're using and that's awesome! I hope you're finding it helpful for working with clients and their businesses' books. Whether you're looking at data in your own account or a client account, having balanced books is key and reports are a great way to review those financials. I'll help you with this.

The first step to take when reports, including the Trial Balance report, don't line up is to review the transactions that are making up the report to ensure they've been entered correctly. You can see which transactions make up which figures by clicking the numbers in the Debit or Credit columns as needed. This will bring you to a Transaction Report where you can view individual transactions and click them to open them for review.

If everything looks fine with the transactions, the next step is troubleshooting. I'll start you off here with cache and Internet troubleshooting, which helps rule out these things as causing the problem in QuickBooks Online. Since it's a cloud platform, it can be affected by these things and often these kinds of steps help.

When things still aren't lining up as you're expecting, I recommend contacting support. One of our team can take a closer look at this with you to help you get back on track with the Trial Balance report. Here's how to reach out.

Schedule a Callback or Chat: click (?)Help in the upper right > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat. Support is available from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET.

Social MediaFacebookTwitter, and Instagram.

All the best to you!
