Welcome to the QuickBooks Online Community! Postdating cheques is a great way to ensure your bills will be paid on time, while still having the cash available until it's due. There are a few ways to keep track of the impact these cheques will have in QuickBooks Online. I'll be happy to help you with this.
Running a report for a future date provides an easy way to see an account's balance after the effect of future-dated transactions. Similarly, you can easily exclude future dated transactions by selecting a more current date. For this purpose, I recommend using the Balance Sheet from the Reports tab. You can easily set an end date prior to the earliest future-dated cheque to see your current balance, or set it further out to see what the balance will be after they are withdrawn from your account.
If you'd like to keep a tally of postdated cheques you have received, you may be able to track them until they are transferred. Your accountant would be your best resource to get started with this. You can easily invite your accountant as a user so you can work on this together. To find one in your area, simply head to the My Accountant tab in QuickBooks Online then click on Find a pro to help.
