Setting up and using direct deposit with QuickBooks Online's Payroll services is a great option for saving time and making sure your employees are getting paid. It sounds like you've already figured out how to set it up for your Canadian employees since you're noticing the options for setting up direct deposit doesn't match US cheques. I'll go over this with you and let you know the options.
Whether you're usingStandard or Advanced Payroll, the QuickBooks system for Canadian accounts accommodates Canadian employees and addresses only. Even setting up a US employee in your books takes a bit of a workaround with the addresses, but those same sorts of workarounds obviously can't be used for setting up a bank account for real-life money movement via deposit.
In light of that, I encourage you to work out an alternative option for ensuring that employee is paid outside of the QuickBooks interface. Don't worry, the program can still be used to calculate the pay run.
