Linking commission income on a T4A to the appropriate T2125 business schedule

SOLVEDby IntuitUpdated October 11, 2023

In 2008, the CRA combined the business income schedule T2124 and the professional income schedule T2032 into one new schedule T2125 for filing year 2008 T1 tax returns. Carry forward of 2007 tax year T1s to prepare T1s for 2008 with business commission income reported on a T4A slip resulted in linking this income with a new T2125 schedule, not with the one created after carry forward.

Link business income reported on a T4A slip with the correct T2125 schedule

  1. Navigate to the T4A slip in ProFile.
  2. Enter the Self-employed commission income in Box 20. The amount entered in Box 20 will transfer to schedule T2125.
  3. Navigate to T2125#1 Part 1 - Business income.
  4. Insert an "X" in the Commission income box.
  5. Navigate back to the T4A screen.
  6. On the T4A screen, in the Transfer commission income to field, select T2125#1 in the dropdown list.

The business commission income reported on T4A slip will now link with the correct T2125.  This FAQ applies only to 2008 tax year returns.
