Thank you for choosing QuickBooks as your financial software. To start creating a project, you will need to enable the Organize all job-related activity in one place option first in your Account and settings.
To do this, please follow the steps below:
- Go to the Gear icon, then select Account and settings.
- Click Advanced, and in the Projects section, turn on Organize all job-related activity in one place.
- Hit Done.
Let's now proceed with creating your project. Here's how:
- Go to All apps, select Projects, then choose Projects.
- Click Start a project.
- In the Project name field, enter the project name.
- Choose a customer from the Customer dropdown. If you don't have one yet, click + Add new to add a customer to your list.
- Set the Start date and End date for the project.
- Choose status from the Project Status dropdown.
- To enter the Billing and Shipping address for the project, turn on Address for this project.
- Select a country from the Country dropdown and enter the address.
- If the shipping address is different from the billing address of your client, uncheck the Same as billing address checkbox. Then, enter the correct shipping details for this project.
- Once completed, click Save.

Please note that the project created will remain empty until you add or create transactions to assign it. You can add transactions to a project by selecting the Add to project dropdown. To do this, please refer to the steps below:
- From the Add to project dropdown, select what kind of transaction you want to add, such as an invoice, estimate, timesheet, or bill.
- Enter the details for the transaction.
- Click Save and close.
