How can I set a budget to a calendar year rather than a fiscal year-end?

Hello tmasters,

That's a great question. Being able to customize the time frame for your budget would definitely be a useful feature. We're constantly looking for new ways to have QuickBooks Online do more for business owners, so I'll be sure to pass on your feedback about this feature.

Currently, the program's budgets operate based on your fiscal year so that you can plan and monitor the numbers during that time frame. You can read more about it in this article about how to create, edit, and manage budgets.

One of the great things about QuickBooks Online is the ability to connect with partner apps. These were created by third-party companies to help enhance what the program can do for you and your business. When logged into a browser, click Apps from the left menu and then use the search bar with the keyword "budget." You'll see there's a variety to choose from and I'm sure you'll be able to find something that fits your needs. You can also try changing up the keywords to see the available options.

Have you developed Quickbooks to allow you set up a budget based not of your Fiscal year but on calendar based period of your choosing?

Looking for this feature as well. I work with clients that receive grants that are periods other than that of their fiscal year. It would be nice to be able to put in a grant budget that is specific to the grant period so we can get reporting out of QBO without having to utilize a separate app or do it manually.

I've just been in touch with them. They've advised to leave a development request on the Feedback section - if enough people request this then it may get done
