I have a few vehicles missing from the Fixed Asset Item list despite the fact that they are all entered under the fixed assets "vehicles" account. What could be the cause?

I have a few vehicles missing from the Fixed Asset Item list, only a trailer is listed under this list and there is nothing I can see that is different in the missing entries. All vehicles are showing under the "vehicles" account, all listed as Fixed assets and yet only one item is showing when I look in the fixed item list. I need to sell a truck and would like to use the dialog that pops up when the fixed item is listed under the Fixed Item list. I hope I am making myself clear...

In Desktop the 'fixed asset item list' is a bit of an odd thing.  I beleive it is part of the 'Fixed Asset Manager' which is a function not included in QB Pro - but you still have the item list.

So in Pro the FA item list and the FA accounts are pretty much completely separate things, and if you want them to be linked and match then its mostly up to you to make that happen.

If all you do is buy and sell separate FA items then this isnt too hard to do this way:

Create the FA Item first and set all the info including purchase price (before tax).  This does not cause any FA asset entry.  Then 'buy' the FA Item on vendor bill or check and add any applicable tax code.  If you ever sell the item use a sales receipt with the FA item.

The FA Item list does not calculate or track depreciation - thats parts of the FA Manager system that I dont have.

MikeinBC: The Fixed Asset Manager does not actually manage anything in any Canadian Editions of QB. In US Editions, it can be set up to calculate depreciation at variable rates, Canadian users are left with nothing but a list.
