Narration on older journal was changed and now the corresponding tax from the old journal is showing up as a tax exception in my current month.

The amounts in the exception column represent any transactions you have previously filed for, but have been changed, deleted or added. This is to ensure that no sales tax collected is missed or duplicated.

 

We have two ways to remove the exception. First is to contact our Customer Care Support Team to undo the tax period filing of the original transaction. Second is to create an adjustment and manually file the tax return to your agency (CRA or state).

 

Once done, let's record the VAT adjustment and select the account you've previously used in the expense transaction. Here's how:

  1. Go to Taxes on the left pane.
  2. Locate the tax and hit Prepare return.
  3. Hit Adjust beside the amount.
  4. Make sure to select the correct Adjustment account.
  5. Enter the amount and the needed details.
  6. Tick Save to close.
