Balance Forward Invoicing

I realize I can send a statement of account WITH an invoice, but can I generate an actual balance forward invoice?   ie"  invoicing for current month with what balances maybe owed ALSO appearing on said invoice?

Balance Forward Invoicing

Hello Plink,

It's great to have you back with us in community and I appreciate you giving me the details of what you're looking to do in the program. You're right that you can absolutely send a statement alongside an invoice to make sure your customer knows about their balance forward in addition the current invoice, but it's always handy when we can have everything in one form. I've found an option for your invoice templates that I think could help.

The option I've found is called Customer Total Balance. It's a field that can be added to the footer of your invoice that will show you the total balance owed by your customer, not just what's owed from the current transaction. Here's how you can set it up.

  1. Select Lists from the top menu.
  2. Choose Templates.
  3. Double-click the template you'd like to edit.
  4. Click the Additional Customization button at the bottom of the window.
  5. Select the Footer tab.
  6. Check off the box for Customer Total Balance (Note: You can rename it if you'd like).
  7. Click OK to save.
  8. Click OK again to save and exit the template customization.

Now when you look at the print preview of your invoices, you'll notice the Customer Total Balance field, or whatever you chose to call it.

You'll note that this only gives you a total amount and not an individual breakdown of each prior transaction. If you're hoping for that breakdown, I recommend going the route of sending a statement with the invoice so the customer knows what's owed.

Here are a couple of links for you to help with what we've discussed.

I hope that helps! I'm here if you have additional questions about this. :)
