Customizing Customer Statements for aging

Hi!

I'm in a bind as I cannot find out how to edit my Customer Statement forms.

Our terms are either 2%/Net 10, 15 days, or Net 30.

Most are at net 15, so I need that box at the bottom of the statement form

Thanks!

PS - we use QB Pro 2020, Desktop version, on W10

Hello Mouselette,

Don't worry! I can help lead the way to where you can go to customize your customer statements in QuickBooks Desktop. Once you know the way, it's fairly simple, and you can get to testing out the customization options. Here's how to get there.

  1. Select Lists from the top menu.
  2. Choose Templates.
  3. Double-click the form you'd like to edit or click Templates, then New to create a new one.

You can try changing the wording of the existing columns and fields or add your own. Keep in mind if you add your own that the program won't automatically populate the fields with information because it's not coded to know where to pull the information from.

Take a look at our Use and customize form templates article for more information about customizing your statements and other templates.

Play around and see what you can create! Give me a shout if you have more questions.

Hi Laura!

I think you're going to be my best friend - haha!!

Yes, I agree to all you are saying, and I will need to customize all my forms so I can have them in French.

Like you said, it's the coding of the Data Field that would be needed, so it can populate the right box with the 1-15 days data. I mean, it should be easy for the developers to make it, it exists for 1-3-, etc...

I'm even open to making my templates available to others, if others need them. It's a shame we can't use the forms produced in older versions though...

Talk to you soon!

Hey again, Sylvie! I'm all about making connections. They're a great way to strengthen what we each can do, and considering you're open to sharing the templates you create, it sounds like you know all about that. :)

I know I mentioned the feedback tool when I responded to your other post, and I encourage you to use it for this as well. In fact, feel free to send us feedback as often as you'd like. The more we hear from you, the more we'll know what's important for your business.

I'll keep an eye out for your questions! Have a great day.

Hi!

I am following up on this request sent to the developers 3 months ago (here, and via the Send Feedback Online) as I still haven't heard anything from you guys...

I was asking for a Data Field of 1-15 days for Customizing Customer Statements for aging...

Is it ever going to be done, or not? It would be so helpful...

Please let me know

Thanks!

Hey Mouselette,

I love that your'e following up on this and I can see it's still an important feature for you. The tool to submit feedback is a one-way communication portal, which is why you haven't gotten any follow up about it. These sorts of updates can be implemented in patch updates to the program or are sometimes released in the newest versions of the program.

To make sure that you're keeping up with patch releases for your version of QuickBooks Desktop, you can either manually put the updates through or set them to go automatically. Here's how to do both of those.

  1. Go to Help in product.
  2. Choose Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  3. Navigate to the Options tab to choose your update setup.
  4. Click the Update Now tab to see what updates are waiting for you.
  5. Hit Close when done.

Learn more about these kinds of updates here: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release

For these sorts of scenarios, it's mostly about keeping an eye on the program to see what updates are made. Brand new features are often added in the new yearly releases of the program and an article is posted about what's new, such as this one for QuickBooks Desktop 2020: What’s new in QuickBooks Desktop 2020

I hope that helps clear things up. Have a great weekend!

Good Morning Laura,

Thank you for taking the time to answer my post.

Yes, I was aware of both points, as that feedback was one way, and updating the software is important.

As you pointed out, yes, the issues mentioned are important to me at least, but in world like today's, we do need to update a few old ways of doing things. QuickBooks I know works hard at putting things on the cloud, and it comes with hurdles I can imagine. But we are users, and we too need to adapt to a fast-paced environment. Terms are getting shorter in many trades, and at least if we could put that box in the statement form, it'd be wonderful.

Have a great week!

Hi Laura!

I was trying to see if there were new fixes - at least for what I needed...

I still haven't seen anything pop up for the 15-day term.

I hope you're doing well :-)

Hi there again @Mouselette. I appreciate how keen you are to have these features implemented. I know it must be important to your business. Our engineers are constantly working hard to improve our products for users like you, but feature requests are prioritized based on demand. It may be that there are features with much higher demand, hence why you haven't seen an update that's included your specific request. I'm going to pass along your request on my end just to ensure that it's been heard, and feel free to continue submitting feedback on this through the Help menu. We appreciate your patience as we work on improving QuickBooks Desktop, and I hope that an upcoming update features this change. I know it'll be beneficial to you as well as some of our other customers. Take care.

I am following up on this thread, as it's been 2 years already

I can't wait to see this happen.... eventually

Cheers!

PS: The Net 15 days exists in the terms list for invoices, but not for the statement form. We need to have it included on the statements. Please. Thank you.
