Can the Tax Summary at the bottom of an invoice be moved or hidden?

My invoices have a tax summary at the bottom and I find that customers glance at the entire thing, then pay the bottom number, which is the subtotal before taxes.

Can the Tax Summary at the bottom of an invoice be moved or hidden?

Hello there, Lisa,

In QuickBooks, the ability to hide the tax summary on your invoices depends on the template you are using. Allow me to explain further.

If you are using the Modern template directly on the invoice page, hiding or moving the tax summary is not possible because QuickBooks has made the Tax Summary a fixed element in the footer.

However, we can create a new template using Custom Form Styles to hide the tax summary on your invoices while ensuring your customers pay the correct amount. To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Custom Form Styles, then click the dropdown for New Style.
  3. Choose Invoice, then select Content. You can rename your template to "Tax Summary Hidden Template" if you wish.
  4. Click on the bottom section and uncheck the box for Tax Summary.
  5. Select Preview PDF to review your changes.
  6. Hit Done to save.

After saving, create a new invoice. Then, navigate to the Manage section to change the template. Click on the Design dropdown, scroll down to Other Templates, and select the new template you just created. You can also select Print to verify if the Tax Summary is hidden.
