Does anyone know why a new invoice show up as Paid when it was just created?

Hello, 


I know how important issuing invoices can be for a small business. What's even more important is keeping track of which invoices have been paid, and which ones are still outstanding. I'd be happy to help you figure out why some invoices may be showing as paid after just being created. 

 

Something to look out for in this case is customer credit memos. Make sure your customer doesn't have any outstanding credit memos in QuickBooks Online that are being automatically applied. If you want to control the application of credit memos to new invoices, you can change this setting by following these steps:

 

1. Click the Gear icon, then click Account and Settings

2. Select Advanced, then navigate to the Automation section.

3. Click the small pencil icon

4. Turn off "Automatically apply credits".

5. Click Done

 

This will make it so that your credits can only be applied when you choose to apply them, rather than automatically being linked to new invoices. If you'd like to delete the invoice you created before changing this setting, simply click the Sales tab, locate your payment, then click More at the bottom of the page and select Delete
