Hi mark199,

Including the invoice number in your subject line is a good way to keep track of your work. QuickBooks Online is all about simplifying and organizing your books. I'll be happy to help you with this.

QuickBooks automatically display the invoice number as part of your invoice's email subject line. If you don't see an invoice number, chances are there's a minor change in your email subject line configuration in your settings. Here's how to verify.

  1. Go to Settings ⚙ and then Account and Settings.
  2. Select the Sales tab and click on the Messages section.
  3. Your Email subject line should be as follow Invoice [Invoice No.] from Company name

Make sure you have the proper and correct amount of bracket, as well as the right amount of space between each word and parenthesis. A slight change in this setting is enough to disrupt the system's ability to display the invoice number for you. If having this configuration doesn't help to bring the invoice number on your sales form, it could be a browser issue causing this problem. Temporary internet files that accumulate in your browser can sometimes cause bugs in the software. To ensure your app or browser is running the program as designed, please follow the troubleshooting steps in this article: Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online

Another good troubleshooting step is to navigate in a private/incognito window or use a different browser compatible with QuickBooks Online. Here's an article with the list of supported browsers: System requirements for QuickBooks Online, Accountant, and QuickBooks Self-Employed

I hope this helps! Feel free to reach out if you need anything else.
