Is anyone else having an issue with invoices losing their tax mode each time the invoice is edited ?

I monthly invoice a customer. Last month when I sent the invoice, somehow it wiped the GST tax from each line item, and changed the tax mode to "not applicable". The customer caught this and made me look unprofessional. I've created a new invoice for April 2026, double checked to make sure the invoice was set to "Tax excluded" so that it's charged on top. However each time I edit the invoice, it's changed back to tax not applicable. The GST has been removed from each line item and I have to edit each line item and choose GST again before I can save it. Each and every time.

Hi there, ColeSpeed. Could you please confirm which specific page of the invoice in QuickBooks Online (QBO) you've edited and see where the tax mode is not applicable? Any additional information would be very helpful for us to move towards a resolution.

In the meantime, I recommend doing the basic troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue. You can start by logging in to your account in a private browsing window. Here are the shortcut keys for various browsers:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

Additionally, if the issue persists, you can also try switching to another supported browser. This will clear the cache and cookies that may be causing issues, resulting in faster loading times and improved performance.

Please let us know if you have any follow-up questions or concerns regarding your invoices.
